The wonderful submissions
Here are some of the submissions for Papergirl Leeds shown in the April 2011 exhibition at TestSpace. We have tried to ensure that all submissions have been credited where information has been given - any mistakes, don't hesitate to get in contact!

Crafting a train of bunting to campaign for Fair Fares!
Papergirl Leeds are collaborating with the wonderful Climate Rush campaigning group and Craftivist Collective to fight for fair transport fares and we need craftivists to help please.

We need you to join us at Leeds Train Station at 2pm to sit on a picnic blanket, drink tea and eat our jam sandwiches whilst crafting petitions in the shape of train carriages. We will have all resources needed but it would be great if you could bring scissors, thread, fabric and even completed carriages with you if possible.
On the day before the stitch-in (9th April) we will be making start on the train carriage bunting at the Papergirl Leeds Exhibition space at Unit 2, Melbourne Street, Leeds, LS2 7PS.
This is a drop-in session between 12-6.
Here's a map (it's only 5 minutes from Primark)
Please could you leave note on the facebook event page if you're coming (so we know how many biscuits to bring!)
Feel free to bring goodies too :)
Across the UK other craftivists will be doing the same in their area on the same day at the same time. Join us in this non-threatening, kitch but thought provoking craftivism project.
Over the next four years the UK Government will hike rail fares by 31%, the highest raise in fares in a ...generation. We were promised 'fair fares' but instead prices are up and our trains are overcrowded. A complicated ticketing system makes it even more difficult for us to choose the train.
As the Craftivist Collective we are passionate about showing our love for our local and global neighbours. These unfair fares will stop people using trains when we need them to help us keep our carbon footprint down. They will hit the people living in poverty the most and stop them getting to their jobs and alienate them even more from society. They will be a great excuse for people to continue to go on shorthaul flights across the UK because it's cheaper and more convenient...the list goes on
This campaign is part of a big issue of inequality and global warming that we need to raise awareness of.
We want people to craft 4inch deep x 7inches wide fabric train coaches (patches like our Mini Protest Banners) with stats, facts, quotes, views on the devastating effects these train fare hikes will have on the world. Please help us make this petition. Cross stitch, hand embroider, write in fabric pens, whatever you can to get the issues out

Exhibition Time
Not long until the exhibition now folks!
Every single submission will be on show at the Papergirl Leeds Exhibition.
The Opening night is Friday 8th April starting at 5pm til late and we would love, love, love you to be there.
Come and eat, drink and be merry!!
(feel free to bring your own alcohol - it is a party after all!)

"Tim ineaux is doggedly pioneering the art of YouTube jockeying, in the firm belief that cloud sourced content will be the future of entertainment, regardless of the odd stray pixel along the way."
Think Girl Talk with pictures and you're only half way to understanding how awesome it will be!

Papergirl Leeds and Leeds Life Drawing (LLD) are joining forces on the 14th April 2011. During the Papergirl Leeds Exhibition, LLD will be holding their usual life drawing event with us at TestSpace on Melbourne Street.
The session will run from 6.30pm - 8.30pm with all materials provided (and a good cuppa tea - made by me no doubt!)
At the end, the lovely participants will decide whether or not they want to add their masterpieces to the Papergirl Leeds Exhibition and then give it away for free!
Amazing!
If you want to buy a ticket, there are a limited amount due to space, but you can buy them here!

Exhibition Space for Papergirl Leeds
We can confirm with you that the Papergirl Leeds exhibition will commence on the 8th April 2011 and run until the 17th April.
We are so, so happy to be working alongside TestSpace Leeds and holding the exhibition at their new creative space on Melbourne Street, Leeds near the Reliance Bar on North Street.

The Papergirl Leeds zine (issue1) is now complete.
There are free copies in Leeds College of Art's Visual Communication Exhibition.

Welcome! So glad you could join us!
Originally created by Aisha Ronniger in 2006 in Berlin, Leeds will be the fourth UK city for Papergirl.
2011 is Papergirl Leeds' UK debut and hopefully the first of many.
We need artists of all shapes and sizes. Printers and illustrators. Mixed media artists and photographers. Whatever it is that you love to do!
We need your submissions of artwork :)
The art of giving art!
Every single piece of work submitted will be shown in the Papergirl Leeds Exhibition. We will be confirming the venue details very soon!
After the Papergirl Leeds Exhibition, all submitted work will be rolled up and distributed to the unsuspecting public by Papergirls (and boys!) on bicycles at the Papergirl Leeds Ride Event.
All submitted work needs to be between A4 and A1 in size and must be able to be rolled up. Please write Papergirl Leeds and any contact details you would like for the lucky person to receive your work (perhaps a lovely message too?)
There is no limit to how how many pieces of art you want to submit. The more the merrier!
By submitting your work you are consenting for it to be shown in the Papergirl Leeds Exhibition and to be given away to the general public for free in the Papergirl Leeds Ride Event. Submissions may be shown on the Papergirl Leeds and Papergirl World Blog (credited where URL details are included of course)
The address for submission can be found on the facebook event - submission deadline. (Please let us know if you will be contributing by clicking attend!)
Also, join our facebook group. We're a friendly bunch, really :)
We also need cyclists to join in with the art of giving art and helpers throughout.
YOU need to get involved!
